what is pro bono?

Latin for “for the public good”, the concept of Pro Bono is one of perennial pertinence for every law student. It follows them through their years in law school and beyond.

For practitioners, pro bono work entails providing free legal advice to those who need it but do not have access to it. Unlike actual practitioners, we, as law students, do not have the capacity to dispense legal advice. Yet, we hope that through the Freshmen Orientation Programme, our freshmen can learn about the essential role they can still play in making the process of justice more accessible to the layperson!
